Taichung City Government is the highest administrative agency for local autonomy of Taichung City, which is a special municipality under the framework of the R.O.C. government, and is also responsible for executing matters of central government agencies. The history of Taichung City Government can be traced back to 1920 as “Taichung Prefecture Hall” and “Taichung Shiyakusho”under the systems implemented by the Office of the Taiwan Governor-General. Taichung City and Taichung County were merged into Taichung City on December 25^th,2010, and Taichung City Government was established as the administrative agency of the special municipality.
